The Bonney's visiting Nov.2013
Tuesday- Nov. 12, 2013
Ken, Tami, Mark, Caroline and Kyler Bonney arrived about 2:15 pm at the Carthage Jail and Visitor Center. Elder and Sister Harris were so happy to see family. We were about off our shift but we stayed and gave them the tour of the jail. Here are some pictures.
Tami, Mark, Kyler and Caroline.
Sister Harris talking about the Jailer, Mr. Stigall and his wife and their seven children that lived in the jail. We are in the Parlor room at the moment.
Elder Harris is in the Debtor Cell on the main floor.
Here is Ken, Kyler, Mark, and Caroline in Jail. When you are in the Debtor Cell you owe money to someone and wouldn't pay so you go to Jail until your family pays your debts off.
Elder and Sister Harris in the Debtor Cell.
Elder Harris in the Martyrdom room telling stories and bearing his testimony and Sister Harris also bears her testimony to the Grandchildren and Ken and Tami. This is a special room and the spirit is so strong in this room.
Here are Caroline, Ken, and Mark sitting in front of the window that Joseph Smith's falls out of. The picture is taken through the hole in the door that the bullet went through and killed Hyrum.

Tami and Ken below the window outside where Joseph fell out of. I see this from my kitchen window while I am washing my dishes. We live in the house that is next door.
Kyler with such a cute personality.
The children are so skinny they can just slip through the fence.
Caroline is so skinny she can slip through the fence also. The Bonneys stayed with us and we had a fun night playing a few games. They had left about 11:00 pm the night before so they had a tiring day. Good-Night!!!

Messiah practice
Thursday- Nov. 7, 2013
The Nauvoo Temple is closed for two weeks for cleaning. We just did some shopping and cleaning around our house today. We didn't do anything exciting but in the evening Sister Ballard and I went to the Messiah practice. This is great because the man that is directing us is so awesome. He knows so much about music and the right way to say the words. I have been saying some words wrong but I do say them right now. The director is a Mormon and many of the community singers are Mormons. We do have other churches that sing with us. We are only singing about 4 or 5 songs.
We will have an orchestra performing with us. In December we will practice with all of us together.
I'm excited to sing in the Messiah this year because I thought I would miss this year.
Saturday- Nov. 9, 2013
Today we did our new part, Jed and Annie in the Rendezvous. We were both so frightened but the Lord helped us with the Holy Ghost to remember our parts and everyone said we did it perfect. We were both very calm and felt good about our performs. I can't believe how many times the Lord helps us on our mission.
Sunday- Nov. 10,2013
We were busy today. Went to our Sacrament Meeting and then Sunday School and Relief Society. I helped Sister Winkler with her lesson in Relief Society and then I practiced in our choir because next week we perform the Thanksgiving song in Sacrament Meeting. We didn't have to work at the Carthage Jail and Visitor Center today, it was our day to be on call. We traveled home to Carthage and in the evening we had to come back to Nauvoo to our District Meeting. We keep the road hot between Nauvoo and Carthage.

A special friend in the Jail.
November 4, 2013
When it is cloudy this is what we see in the jail. Some times I come out of the office I see Joseph in the Jail. It is a reflection from his large picture in the Visitor Center. Some how it goes to a 90 degree and it looks like Joseph is in the kitchen of the jail. It gives you goose bumps!!

In the summer kitchen you can see Hyrum standing in the door but it isn't as clear as Joseph. These are pictures I took with my camera. They don't always show up as good. It has to be a cloudy day to see them both.

This is so cool to do in the Martyrdom Room. Sister Harris is sitting at the window that Joseph Smith fell out off and the picture is taken through the bullet hole in the door. This is the hole where the bullet went through and killed Hyrum. This is such a sacred room that you feel the reverence in it every time you go in it.
This picture is in the Carthage Visitor Center. Boyd K. Packer ask a Theodore Gorka an artist to paint a picture of Joseph Smith teaching friends and family by the Mississippi River in Nauvoo. Mr. Gorka put himself in the picture. He is the man holding his hat. The neat story is that the man with his hand on his chin Baptized Mr. Gorka after the painting was finished. Mr. Gorka was a non-member and it is like he was taught the Gospel as he painted the picture. Cool Story!!!!
Better late than never.

Even though it is November I want to show you some pictures I took on Oct. 4, 13 which was Friday morning Breakfast to say Good-bye to our MTC group that had been here for six months. They did go home on Oct. 8, 2013, which was a Tuesday.
Elder Harris, Sister Ward and Elder Ward, Sister Harris. They are our District Leaders ever since we have been in Nauvoo and they are going home now. This is their 3rd Mission here in Nauvoo. They taught us how to do Noah and Sophia. They are good in all the parts they do. We will really miss them, their Awesome!!!
Sorry this is blurry.

Elder & Sister Beard, He was a teamster and he has changed the most of everyone. He had a hard time at first but wants to come back next summer but they tell us that if they want to come back that they have to stay for l year, no more 6 months teamsters. They were such a fun couple missionary. If anyone wants to come to Nauvoo and you now about horses you should call the Nauvoo Visitor Center because they are looking for more teamsters for next summer.
Sister and Elder Murdock, They served here in Carthage Jail and Visitor Center for 9 months and then she was over the Sunset by the Mississippi Program.
Sister and Elder Halford, they lived in a trailer and she walked every single day. We would see her when we went walking a lot up in the park and by a lake.
These two young single missionaries are going home. They were great to serve with them.
Sister Ward played the piano when the group sang their song. She is a really good piano player. If anyone is a good piano player that will get you here also in Nauvoo.

Left Single Sisters are doing a
Skit and the Right Single Sisters
are singing the Farewell Song.

We are such good friends to Sister and Elder Ward. Their family will be so happy to have them go home, they have 12 children so you can guess how many, many, many Grandchildren they have and that doesn't count the Great Grandchildren. They are a spiritual high light in our mission. I will really miss them both. He is always telling funny stories or jokes.
This is Elder and Sister Nagel. We moved in the house that they lived in in Carthage. They did the landscaping at Carthage Visitor Center and Jail for 6 months and yes she is about 30 years younger than he is but they sure love each other. This is their 2nd mission to the Carthage Visitor Center and Jail doing landscaping.
Here are the young sisters that are going out into the world to proselyte. Some of them are going home. They have already been on a mission for 18 months. The other sisters will be going for the winter and then be back for next summer. I am excited because I will get to serve with some of them next summer before going home.
Sorry this is blurry.
The awesome Young Single Missionaries.
The missionaries that are going home have to do a skit to the other missionaries at the Early Friday Morning Breakfast.
